Photography in London

I’ve lived and worked in London for most of my life. I have never ceased to be enthralled by the sheer variety of the place. It’s a capital city, a centre of business, a centre of global finance, a world centre of the arts, host to several leading universities and research institutions, and much more besides. Incidentally it’s also one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.

London is constantly growing and changing. A great many of the people living in London were not born there. But even for a non-native like me, London seems very different from “tourist” London with its relatively small number of visitor attractions.

We have seen whole new business districts developed in places like Canary Wharf and new construction in “older” areas like the West End and the City of London (the main financial district) with its medieval street plan and preserved iconic buildings from the past nestling alongside innovative modern architecture. London is constantly renewing itself, creating an excitement that visitors often miss.

I’ve known Chichester Harbour for many years and kept a boat there for most of them. The area offers a wide range of opportunities for photography - seascape, landscape, watersports, wildlife. See my upcoming gallery and blog posts.
